Carl, there are two ways to watch last week’s The Americans, the spy drama which airs on FX. First, you can go to the FX Now app on your mobile device or Smart TV set-top, type in your Comcast user name and password, and watch the show from there. However, for future reference, there’s also a way to restore any deleted show on your Comcast X1 set-top. Here’s how, according to Comcast’s web site. Pick up your remote and click the Xfinity button.

Then, use the Arrow button on your remote to scroll down to the Saved header. After clicking Saved, use the Arrow button to highlight Recordings and then Recently Deleted. From there, you click on the show you want to restore with the OK button.
Finally, select Recover and press OK again to restore the show. Comcast says recently deleted shows will stay on the X1 set-top until the storage limit is reached, or if you go into that section and permanently delete a show. Happy Viewing! I'm afraid your recordings are lost. Sending a 'hit' to the box will do nothing to restore them nor will it do anything to recordings still available.
The 'hit' is simply a refresh command giving the box your subscription rates and operating parameters. The tech who told you the recording list is kept on a TW server is grossly mistaken. All recordings and related data reside on the hard drive. If the software in your SA DVR took a dump and no longer recognizes your recordings there's nothing you can do about it. The recordings are still there, but they cannot be read any longer. It's too bad your cable system is not on the Motorola platform instead. It's much more robust.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Janie Sorry, I can't help you get the list back, but I'm thinking it's 99.999% chance that the list is kept locally on the set top box. As a software developer, and IT person, I can say there would be absolutely no reason to maintain the list elsewhere. It's not like AIM, where you can sign on from anywhere and have your buddy list pop up. This is similar to TW claiming the DVR is a 'service', therefore they charge a monthly fee for providing the 'service'. It is not a service. It is a built in function of the equiptment, and the only service involved is to zap it with a few bytes turning on the DVR. It's certainly not like VOD, where they are streaming me my recorded shows.
It's all locally done. DanIt's interesting now that you mention VOD. My list got messed up shortly after I was watching some a VOD show. The tech told me that people were having issues with VOD including losing their recorded shows.
Does that sound possible and if so is there something they can do about getting back my shows? Janie Like I said, I can't get you going on this, sorry. If it was possiblethe tech.should. have the info on how to recover your shows.
I've got a whole list of bugs related to the guide and DVR that I've noticed, but TW doesn't maintain the guide or guide s/w (meaning they don't write the actual code) or the DVR functions. For instance, you can pause the DVR for up to 1 hour. If you watch a show from 8:00 - 8:30, at any time while the show is on, you can press record and it will record the entire show from the beginning. If you pause the show, at 8:05 (which will pause until 9:05), come back 20 minutes laterstart watching it on delay, fine. But now, you decide to record the show when you come back. Even though delayed, it will record properly if at the time you select record, it is prior to the end of the 'realtime' show.
In this instance 8:30. So this pause delayed show will record correctly if you hit record at 8:29.
If you press record at 8:31, it will not. You press record at 8:31, go back in the guide listing to the show that ended 1 minute ago, tell it to record, and it won't because the show is already 'over'. It was paused, the entire show is stored on the HD locally, but it won't record. And navigating the guide is ungodly slow. And the guide should have a search feature.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
